This is a camp organized yearly by the King Mongkut's Science Park at Waghor in April before the Songkran Festival because the Park is aware of the importance of family institutions. So, it wants members of the family to spend time together to strengthen the family relationship and to exchange experiences with other families. |
The target group: the camp is open to all interested people from across the country, with the proviso that each group of participants must consist of approximately 4 people from the same family. Young members of the family should be at least 5 years old and not over 13 years old. The camp is organized once a year and each year no more than 20 families are accepted to the camp. Duration of the Family Camp: 3 days and 3 nights Activities of the Camp consist are twofold: 1. Educational activities, for example, star watching, bird watching, exploring the undersea world, making rockets from water bottles and exploring occupational technology. 2. Recreational activities, for example, group relations activities, beach activities, a walk rally and organizing a temple fair to promote relationships. Activities organized by the Camp are not fixed and depend on the concept of each year. The main focus of the organization of activities is to enable members of the same family to participate in activities together in order to enhance love and warmth in the family. This is also a way of training them to do group activities with other participating families. Venue: the Waghor 1 Camp, which is by the sea and has a pleasant ambience Fees and expenses: depending on the activities organized each year Accommodation: there are 2 types of accommodation: 1. A dormitory that has been modified from a classroom building. The accommodation consists of shared bedrooms with bedding and each room is fitted with electric fans and mosquito screens. Shower rooms and toilets, single and shared, are provided outside. Each room can accommodate 3 families. 2. Tents erected under coniferous trees along the beach. All of the tents are provided with bedding. One tent can accommodate one family. Things to bring 1. 2-3 pieces of casual clothing, 2. 1 pair of sneakers (for the walk rally), 3. 1 set of clothes for beach activities, 4. Things for personal use, for example, soap, shampoo, a female sarong (Pha Thung) or a male singlet (Pha Khama), sandals, a torch and medicine for individual ailments/diseases, 5. The mental preparedness to take part in activities. Examples of activities First day • Registration, lunch, • Activities to break the ice (getting to know each other/group relations), • Opening ceremony, • Exploring the undersea world, • Paying respect to the statue of King Rama IV, • Dinner/ personal activities, • Star watching • Rest. Second day • Bird watching, • Personal activities/breakfast, • A walk rally, • Lunch, • Exploring occupational technology (learning to create different things), • Beach activities, • Personal activities/dinner, • Organizing a Temple Fair/activities to promote relationships. • Rest. Third day • Personal activities/breakfast • Creating rockets from water bottles/snack • Testing how to launch rockets, • Concluding the activities/evaluation/presenting photos as souvenirs of the Camp, • Farewell/closing ceremony, • Lunch/departure.
